Welcome to the online home of the NZCS Trio

New Zealand's premier piano trio, the NZCS bring the luminescent colours, sights and sounds of Aotearoa to the world through the intimate experience of chamber music.  Katherine, Lara and James are passionate about revitalising classical music as a spontaneous experience and engage personally with each audience, transcending cultural barriers through the universal language of music.

Programming and celebrating the vital and energetic new compositions bursting forth from the composers' of New Zealand Aotearoa, alongside the works of the classical and 20th Century masters - the NZCS bring the unique blend of virtuosity, colour and life-force to music "old & new" that the world has come to expect from this clean and pure island environment of the Southern Pacific.
You are listening to the 2nd movement (Andante) from the Piano Trio in F# minor by Arno Babajanian.  This work has been revived over the past five years by the NZCS who have performed it across New Zealand, Europe, the USA and in South America.

Dr John Gallagher Concert Chamber: Home of the NZCS

Picture
This multi-award winning Concert Chamber and Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts Complex is home to the New Zealand Chamber Soloists.
New Zealand's 'Building of the Year' in 2001, its attractive wall panels, high ceiling and wooden floors are designed specifically for acoustic chamber music.  Situated in Hamilton, the heart of the Waikato region, it is the largest of the Academy's five venues and is also home to the Opus Chamber Orchestra and Okta.

The design, by Marshall Day Acoustics, won the NZIA award and is a favoured recording venue among New Zealand's premier musicians due to the specific sound insulation and mechancial services noise control.

The two major performing spaces in the Gallagher Academy complex are the Concert Chamber and the Playhouse. Also included are two teaching and rehearsal spaces, the Dance Studio and the Whare Tapere Iti, Foyer and Exhibition spaces, canteen, administration and back of house areas.

The Concert Chamber is the venue of choice to several of New Zealand's premier concert series and hosts concerts by Chamber Music New Zealand and the Opus Orchestra as well as to visiting national and international artists. The New Zealand Chamber Soloists use the venue as a rehearsal space and for performance.
